Vintage Ironstone Sugar Bowl - England
Sweet footed English ironstone sugar bowl or as they were often referred to, “sugar jar”. It has the charming geometric relief design and hexagonal shape which is the classic Empress pattern by William Adams. The lid, finial and softly ribbed body both have the same raised detailing. There are no cracks but there is a chip under one of the corners on the body (see pictures). There is some nice all-over crazing.
It’s a classic in every way and in nice, clean vintage condition. Lovely to add to an ironstone collection, fill in a set that’s missing the sugar bowl or just use to display with other whites.
The bottom is marked with a crest and reads, Real English Ironstone - Micratex – England – Est 1657. Adams – Member of the Wedgwood Group.
The sugar bowl measures 6 inches wide handle to handle and stands approximately 5 ½ inches tall to the top of the lid
