Antique Kitchen Scale
Primitive farmhouse red metal Columbia Family 24-pound scale. It still works!
This scale has a wonderful timeworn patina and rust in all the right places which makes it so very charming. Scales were a staple in the farmhouse kitchen in the early 1900s. The face has aged to a wonderful cream color but the name, numbers and other details are still very visible. The scale has plenty of tarnish, rust and wear which gives it that great vintage look. It may have been painted somewhere along the way as the underside of the top and bottom are black. We can’t be sure. The top square is barn red like the rest of the scale and can still be used for weighing although we cannot attest to its accuracy. It’s a perfect piece to add to a collection.
It is stamped on the bottom “Pat. Sep. 17, 06”
The scale’s height is approximately 8 ½ inches. From front to back the scale measures 9 inches and is 6 inches across. The front face diameter is 6 inches. The top of the scale is approximately 5 ½ inches square.
