Antique Grain Sieve - Bentwood

Antique wood sieves were used in the early days to sift grain and flour. This charming little piece has bentwood bands and a fine dark mesh. Overlapping bentwood bands in the Shaker style are secured by antique metal tacks. Simple design - perfect for farmhouse, French country or primitive decor. These are collectible items and make great wall décor – lovely as a circular addition to a gallery wall. Possibly on a wall in a vintage style restaurant?

The wood frame shows wear on the rims with splits and some missing wood, but it remains structurally sound and the joints are tight. The color of the wood is a deep honey. The fine mesh has no tears. There is a stamp in black on the bottom rim that is not distinguishable except for the numbers “50”. We think it’s quite a charming piece.

It measures 8 inches in diameter and is 2 1/4 inches deep.
